Theory and empirical evidence about growth and development in low-income countries. Topics include the measurement of poverty and inequality; the role of human capital in health and education, the internal structure of households, the role of social capital and institutions, how factor markets involving credit, labor, insurance and land functions. Growth models, and development economic policies.
