About Bangkok

 

“Bangkok” known in Thai as “Krung Thep Maha Nakhon”,

was established as the capital city of Thailand in 1782 by the first monarch of the present Chakri dynasty. It is located on the bank of the Chao Phraya River which covers an area of more than 1,500 square kilometers and being the most populated city in Thailand with approximately more than 5.6 million people. Moreover, it is the central of government, education, transportation, economic, financial & banking, commercial, telecommunication, development and tourist attraction. Furthermore, Bangkok is the longest name city in the world.

Wat Pra Si Rattana Satsadarm
Temple of Emerald Buddha; full official name “Wat Pra Si Rattana Satsadarm” is also known as “Wat Prakaew”. The Emerald Buddha, a dark green statue, also known in Thai as Phra Phuttha Maha Mani Rattana Patimakorn is perceived as the most hallowed Buddha image in Thailand.
Wat Pra Chetuphon Vimolmangklaram Rajwaramahaviharn
Wat Po; full official name “Wat Pra Chetuphon Vimolmangklaram Rajwaramahaviharn” is also known as the “Temple of the Reclining Buddha” (46 metres long). Moreover, it is the school of medicine and the first public university in Thailand. Furthermore, it is known as the birthplace of Thai traditional massage which is still taught and practices at the temple.
Wat Arun Ratchawararam
Temple of Dawn; full official name “Wat Arun Ratchawararam” is known as “Wat Arun” and locally known as “Wat Chaeng”. The 70-metre high pagoda or “Pra Prang” is located on the east bank of Chao Phraya River. The temple’s encrusted with the multi-colored Chinese porcelain and the tiny pieces of color glass.

Khao San Road; a short street in the central Bangkok located in the Banglamphu area. Khao San is the popular place for foreigners and splashing water during the Songkran Festival.

It has more than 8,000 shops which are separated into 27 projects and 8 kinds of goods such as vegetables and fruits, clothes, pets, plants, food and drink, fresh and dry food & others. The market is opened on Saturdays and Sundays, 09:00 a.m. – 06:00 p.m. and Fridays, 06:00 – 12:00 p.m. You can go to Chatuchak Market by the sky train (BTS) to Mo Chit Station and the subway (MRT) to Chatuchak Park Station and take exit no. 1.
